Perfect hostel for our visit to White Sands. Nestled up in the mountains, getting there along the scenic highway is part of the fun. Rooms were clean, beds comfy, kitchen well appointed, and bathrooms well laid out. Honestly had I known, I would have spent an extra day there to explore the many trails in the area, including ones right out the back of the property. Stephanie is an enthusiastic host who helped us plan an incredibly beautiful drive up to ABQ that bypassed the intestate. Why would anyone stay at a motel when this gem is so close to the sites?
Awesome place to stay! The owner is great and the rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and clean. Excellent value - I only paid $19 for a bunk!
The hostel provides towels and bedding at no cost. It was clean, cute, and the host was friendly. Beds were a bit hard. The top bunk does not have a guard. I was worried I believe might fall off. They do not allow outside bedding except for special pillows (to keep people from bringing in dirty camping gear). Cloudcroft is the prettiest little town I've ever seen. Supposedly winter is their busy season but the weather and scenery was fantastic in the middle of summer. This review sounds a bit critical but I would definitely come back here.
Awesome spot. First hostel experience and I would go back. She was super friendly and let us in a little later. We stayed the night on the way to the dunes . 10/10. Also it was very clean. And have an amaing view to the stars at night.
Best part: we paid $50 for the three of us to stay in the family room.
A gem! Very cozy beds, a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering, a comfortable sunny living room, hot showers, and several walking trails right off the property: this place is wonderful. The owner, Stephanie, is warm and interesting, with lots of good recommendations for the area and the broader southwest. I've stayed in dozens and dozens of hostels, this one is a real gem. If you haven't tried a hostel, do it!
